I have the house to myself. Both of my children are sleeping soundly and my partner has gone for a run with the dog. The washing is on, the floors swept, dishes done, house tidied, I'm showered and dressed and i've made a cup of tea. Moments like these are precious - moments where I feel a sense of space in days that are full and constant, in both busy-ness and joy.
I've been intending to write this blog since my son was born 19 months ago. There have been times since then that I've attempted and I was sure that when we fell pregnant with our daughter when Jack was 6 months old I would have time to make time (if that makes sense) to dedicate to my own ponderings and reflections in the form of a blog. And then Audrey was born nearly 4 months ago and although it seemed like a wonderful opportunity to make the most of a significant transition to begin something new (a pattern in my life thus far), the rhythm of daily life with 2 littlies, a partner, a dog, keeping house, maintaining significant relationships and everything else ... well it consumed me. Then my Gran died 2 weeks ago and time and will and want and dedication appeared.
A long line of you is dedicated to my Gran. To a truly remarkable woman of incredible grace, wisdom, generosity and simplicity, who I will miss. My intention is to share aspects of my life in all its colourful glory, and I intend to post openly and often. I foresee post themes relating to parenting, partnering, daily life in East Brunswick, family, creativity, children and who knows what else and I look forward to sharing with you.
Audrey is stirring and Tommy (partner) and Finn (dog) are home so I will go for now.
